You are not beautiful because you apply makeup or wear nice clothes or have your hair professionally done. You are not beautiful because you can paint with ease or play with strength or sing with splendor. You are not beautiful because your eyes reflect the stars or your skin is naturally smooth or your physique firm.

You are beautiful because of this.

God is beauty. You spend time in His presence, you love Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, you invite Him into your life….you are suddenly beautiful because you are a direct mirror that reflects His beauty. That’s when you’re beautiful.

It’s not about us.

It’s about Jesus Christ.

It always was; it never changed.

God IS beauty. We reflect that.

That’s beautiful.

I could work for money

I could perform for fame

I could perfect myself

But what do I gain?

A life without Christ

Is a life about me

A life lost in myself

Is a life never free

I could do the same things

But in a different way

I could do them with joy in my face

And the love of Jesus each and every day

I could work for money

Money to give

I could perform for fame

Fame to show others how Jesus lives

I could perfect myself

Perfect to be strong

The music is different now

A new ending to my song

I lay under the fireworks tonight. They crackle and burst and explode above me; the brilliant color reflects in my brown eyes.

And I wonder.

My Jesus…what if our love were like this?

Like this.

Like a speeding missile, shooting high and far into the world around; always pointing upward to the One who ignites us. This love explodes! It bursts into an array of color and wonder and joy. Its fingers reach out; it touches others. They too, are ignited. They too, explode, and do the same. More color. More wonder. More joy.

And more love.

It’s an array of color. It’s fireworks.

It’s beautiful.

Go make fireworks, my friends. Ignite hearts. Fan the flames of souls. And together we will create a beautiful array of color.

“Elegance is not about being noticed, it’s about being remembered.” – Unknown

He helped me carry my items. He opened the door for me. He smiled and treated me with respect.

He is remembered.

Do not lose elegance. Do not bury grace. Do not allow chivalry to die.

Give them life and allow them to regain the strength and fervor they once had.

“The irony is that while God doesn’t need us but still wants us, we desperately need God but don’t really want Him most of the time.”

–          Francis Chan

Why are you sitting in front of your screen, reading these words?

Why are you here?

We were made to love God and be loved by God and love others the way God loves us.

It’s all about love, isn’t it?

Because GOD is LOVE.

Starts there, continues there, ends there.

Sometimes I forget to laugh.

It sounds dumb, when I say that.

But it’s true.

I work hard. I am focused. I am determined. I care much and relax little. I want so badly to do the right thing and do the job right.

But I forget to laugh.

The weird thing is, I love to laugh. I do. But sometimes I forget.

I miss it.

And then I remember. And I laugh again. And I know I mustn’t forget.

God loves to hear you laugh. He does. There is a song that sings every day. It’s His music. The galaxies, the rivers, the mountains, the birds, the blossoms, the honeybees, the treetops, the horses, the everything – they are all singing a melody that blends in perfect harmony. It’s beautiful.

And when you laugh?

You add the finishing notes.

And it’s awesome.

I rock. Forward. Back. Forward. Back. My hands rest gently on the swing. I sniff. I want to be alone. Just want to be alone. To be comforted. To just sit. Sit in my Lord’s presence.

“I’m hurting, Lord.”

Sniff.

A tear rolls down my cheek. A curl softly brushes along my chin.

Sniff.

I’ve done this before. I tried to do it myself. To make it on my own. I fall. I hurt. I’m in pain. I need Jesus. Need the healing of His presence. His touch. His life.

The soft breeze picks up. My skirt flaps around my legs. I shiver.

I lift my wet eyes to the sky. “I’m cold, Lord.” I brush the brown locks from my face.

The wind stills. The sun beams.

I’m warm.

I smile. “I’m warm, Lord.”

He cares.

God cares.

Talk to Him, my friend.

God. Cares.
